History & Biography
After eight years of releasing music as Epidemic and releasing albums and playing with the likes of Sacred Reich, a modified line up changed monickers in 1998 and released a thrash album on the Greek label Black Lotus. The band did not last, but managed to open for Death in Greece as its first concert in 1998.

DESCEND - BEYOND THY REALM OF THROES - BLACK LOTUS
Here comes a new release by the upstart Greek label Black Lotus Records which demonstrates the label's intention to work professionally on the international metal scene. The latest batch of releases from the label demonstrates a tendency towards a good sound, presentation and most importantly good bands. This, apparently, is not a Unisound Records-type scam, even though the bio's caption under the album cover reads wrongly "Beyond thy Realms of Throes" and the back cover contradicts the title again calling it this time "Beyond the Realm of Throes"!! Regardless, Descend is the, erm, descendant of the early '90s Greek thrash metal unit Epidemic and features two members of that band, namely Dimitris Soldatos and Jimmy Morphis (aka Jimmy Murphy). On its debut album with the new monciker Descend combines powerful thrash metal with haunting melodies on the guitar. For those in the know, one can say that they mix the patterns and sounds of Obliveon's debut album, From This Forward, with the melancholy of Decomposed (UK). They are not a derivative, monotonous and 'atmospheric' band though. In fact, they incorporate those thoughtfully melodies maturely into a ballsy thrash metal. The vocalist, though, is the weak link in the chain with vocals falling somewhere nearer to the rangelessness of Necromantia. Having said that, the band apparently recognizes the vocalist's weakness and emphasizes the instrumental. - Ali "The Metallian"
