FREQUENCY - WHEN DREAM AND FATE COLLIDE - SCARLET
Frequency is a Swedish power metal band that notwithstanding the album’s title is nothing like Dream Theater’s When Dream And Day Unite album. Instead, unlike the fluffy music that the media passes as 'power metal' these days, the Frequency five’s music is what it should be, namely hard, fast and heavy. No wonder, for several members have a background in a death metal band.
When Dream And Fate Collide is both pounding power metal that would find parallels in Nevermore, Icarus Witch and Iced Earth and more moderate melodic moments. The high-pitched vocals probably go back to early Queensrÿche and more obscurely Order Of Nine. The songs are unfailingly first-class and balanced, the singer hits the right notes and the listener is spared unnecessary instrumentation or interludes. This is the type of album one hopes for more frequently. - Ali “The Metallian”
