Formed as Macabre End, God Macabre was a mid-paced doom/death metal band with an underground following. A demo was issued in 1990 called Consumed By Darkness. The band signed to M.B.R. Records of Germany and released a MCD The Winterlong... and appeared on one label sampler before disbanding. Drummer Niklas Nilsson is characterized as a session drummer on the mini album. The recording was conducted in 1991 at Sunlight Studio by Tomas Skogsberg, but the result was issued in 1993.
Guitarist Ula Sjöberg and Per Boder would live on in Snake Machine and Space Probe Taurus.
Vomitory covered the song Ashes Of Mourning Life on their Redemption album. The MCD was reissued in 2002 by Relapse with the demo as a bonus.
