Reviews LIVING CORPSE - METAPHYSICAL COLLAPSE - CORONER
As a rule, reviewing bands with which the reviewer is not previously familiar is more difficult than bands one has heard before. Familiar bands have a known sound, previous albums and are known quantities. While Living Corpse was a brand new name and music to me, assessing the music itself was a rather simple matter. Metaphysical Collapse - cool name and excellent appropriate cover artwork by the way - is simply constructed thrash metal with a good dosage of hardcore. The crossover sound is effective because it’s direct, fast and in-your-face. There are things like breaks and guitar charges all over, but Living Corpse is a band in a hurry and the intent to go for the jugular. An acquired taste undoubtedly is singer Rafael. He sounds like a mix of Vio-lence Sean Killian and Macabre’s Nefarious - only more desperate. Imagining someone with a sound like that, yet sounding more distressed must be difficult, but he exists (right here). These guys are a barrel of thrashing pleasure. - Anna Tergel
