Formed in 1983 in Witten, just outside Dortmund, the Germans adopted a leather ‘n chains image. The MSG song, Attack Of The Mad Axeman, likely inspired the band’s name.

The band signed with the Belgian label Mausoleum and issued an album in 1984. The album’s cover was a cover shot in the mould of other Mausoleum bands like Dark Wizard or Axe Victims. An three-song EP called Hellraiser followed a year later.
