History & Biography
The Germans were initially called Madness, but changed their name following the emrgence of th pop ska band of the same name. The new name was inspired by a passing boat Franz Zellner and Jochen Bleicher saw on the river Avon in the United Kingdom. Following a self-titled 1982 debut the Nurenberg-based Maggie’s Madness obtained a deal with Belgium’s Mausoleum Records for its sole album, which was produced by R.Brix. The group changed to become a Wild Cat, although bassist Tobolla was out in the meantime and replaced by Michael Andrasch. Tobolla did the US club circuit in Germany before rejoining the newly-renamed band. By this time, Daniel Zimmermann, who would later join Gamma Ray, was drumming.
