History & Biography
The power metal band Sacred Steel was founded in 1996. Rehearsal October 1996 featured the songs Sacred Steel and Reborn In Steel among others. Reborn In Steel was issued in November 1997. The band had signed to Metal Blade where it would stay for three albums before downgrading to Massacre. The band reported being the first German group on the American label. Amazingly, for this day and age, the line-up remained stable until Hammer Of Destruction. Sacred Steel lost Jörg M. Knittel and Oliver Großhans in 2006 in order for the two to concentrate on My Darkest Hate. Jens Sonnenberg switched to guitar. Live Blessings contained a CD and a live DVD. Persuader and Sacred Steel toured the USA in 2007. The band was booked for Summer Breeze Open Air in 2009. In that year, the band had an album release show and the members' Dawn Of Winter (and Lanfear) were booked to open. Then there was Rock Hard Festival and Bang Your Head festivals in 2010. The band switched to Cruz Del Sur Music in 2013. The band celebrated its twentieth anniversary with concerts in Europe in 2016.

The pandemic forced a hiatus between 2020 and 2022. The act appeared at Metal 4 Meinerzhagen 2022. Sacred Steel released its eleventh album, Ritual Supremacy, in April 2025. There was a video for the song Leather, Spikes And Chains. The band would follow it up with a performance at the 25th anniversary of the Keep It True Festival and other shows. The new album was the first to feature new members Toni Ieva (bass) and Jörn Langenfeld (guitar) who had joined the band in 2023. Sacred Steel and Sweden-based Portrait announced the Supremacy Of Steel Tour in Europe for November 2025. The first two albums of Sacred Steel were rereleased on vinyl in 2026. 28 years after its first appearance there, Sacred Steel was booked for Wacken in 2026. The band also organized a river boat trip in Stuttgart, Germany for October of 2026. It was the 30th anniversary of Sacred Steel.
