History & Biography The West German hard and heavy band out of (west) Berlin was around between 1978 and 1990, and briefly in 1992, during which time it became known as much for the alluring bodies it had parading on stage as its music. Two members had come from the Berliner punk rock at Feuervogel, which was active in 1977 and 1978. The act was also known for a fluid membership. The music itself was marred by the occasional keyboards. The line-up was volatile, but several members reunited in the short-lived V2 in 1988. The name was pronounced as 'Saado.'
The act was first heard through the Rock From Hell - German Metal Attack compilation of 1983. Grave Digger, Running Wild and others were on this Noise Records sampler and bass player C.F. Brank of Grave Digger would briefly join S.A.D.O. in a couple of years. The band's Shout! album emerged in 1984. The band was intent on its own art and originality and sported a pink logo and four scantily clad maidens. Someone once claimed that nuns have no fun, but S.A.D.O. on Circle Of Friends was having none of it. Album number two featured a pair of new guitarists and a new bassist in the form of the aforementioned C.F. Frank. Proving to be an equal opportunity lover, S.A.D.O turned its attention to hot teachers with the heavier Dirty Fantasy. This album was produced by Harris Johns. Once again, the line-up had changed and only singer Cook was left standing. The band toured Germany in December of 1987. The final album saw the band revert to a more melodic sound.
Drummer Matti Kaebs died in 2022.
